Drug Abuse Educational Awareness Activities For Children

Various public primary school systems in the United States have carried out programs of education or educational awareness programmes about drug abuse for their students because of recent studies showing that many primary schools in the country have been exposed to the serious problem of drug abuse. If you are a primary school teacher managing several classes of different grade levels and your school does not have an education awareness programme for drug abuse, maybe it is time to suggest to the school administration that your school should have a drug abuse awareness programme.

An educational awareness programme for drug abuse under the primary school level could consist of: classroom lectures with the use of visual aids; educational games, sports and other activities conducted in the classroom, school gym or outside playing field; and field visits to events or places that promote education awareness about the dangers and prevention of drug abuse. As a primary school teacher, you could learn about the different education awareness activities for drug abuse awareness from resources that are available in the library, or from the Internet.

When you read and study about the materials of carrying out an educational awareness activities for drug abuse, you would learn the common education awareness activities that you could easily learn and carry out for your class. The two most common awareness activities are role playing and presentations. Role playing is an effective activity for students in the 3rd to 6th grade levels because they are old enough to memorize lines and act in roles that allow them to be in scenarios about drug abuse that they understand. A typical role playing scenario that the children could identify with is the setting outside the school when their classes are finished. The scenario could be fellow pupils or strangers offering drugs, and on how they could refuse those offers.

Educational Awareness on Climate Change Awareness

I was during the third term when I was still a first year education degree student when we had a week-long assignment on education awareness or also known as educational awareness. Out lecturer gave us the option of choosing our own topic if it is related to the subject area of education awareness. In my assignment, I first defined education awareness as making individuals, groups, or organizations to be perceptive or have the awareness about a particular topic, issue or concern that needs attention.

Then, I selected the topic of educational awareness for the issue of climate change and I focused my assignment paper about the importance of why everyone involved in education should raise awareness and perception about the issues, concerns and problems about climate change. I stated in my paper that everyone who is a stakeholder in education such as the schools, educators, government agencies, non-government organizations, communities, and other stakeholders should have programs that would involve the efforts or activities in increasing the education awareness for climate change.

To research for my assignment, I read and studied reference books, journals, newspapers and magazines, and other reading materials about educational awareness on climate change. I found out that in the local level such as a primary school in a community, the concerned people in the school could plan and carry out educational programs in the school that would raise the awareness of the students about being knowledgeable on the issues concerning climate change.

I learned that a primary school does not necessarily have to introduce a new or separate subject or create a special class so that the students would be aware about climate change. The school administration could include the topic of climate change in the subjects of sciences and social studies where climate change could be discussed in several ways such as a combination of class discussions, assignments and laboratory works.

Writing My Research Paper on Educational Awareness

As a second year education degree student, one of the most challenging assignments I did are a research paper on the meaning and relevance of educational awareness or also known as education awareness. Since we only had a week to research, write and submit our respective research papers, I had to do a comprehensive research on the subject of education awareness especially it's meaning and its relevance to education.

From the books and other reading materials that I researched, read and studied in the library, I learned that educational awareness is a concept of an individual, groups, organisations, and institutions of being perceptive and conscious of the issues, concerns, and problems in education. Another aspect of education awareness is the effort and activities of individuals, organisations, and institutions to make others aware of the important or essential issues, concerns, and problems that need to be addressed in education. So I focused my research paper on an example of an issue in education that the people and organisations should be made aware.

The educational awareness example that I used in my research paper are the problems in special education for elementary school students. I stated in my paper that it is not only the parents, federal government agencies and local government authorities who should be made aware of the various problems faced by special education classes in public elementary schools in the United States. But the policy makers in the state and federal legislatures, non-government organisations, and even the ordinary taxpayers should be aware and get involved in any way they could about the various issues and concerns faced by the special education system in various school districts in the U.S. The issues such as the proper identification of students with special education needs, and the continuing debate on whether a disabled student should be placed in a regular classroom or in a separate special education class.

The Significance of Educational Awareness for Women's Reproductive Health

Educational awareness is important for women in order for them to be able to handle the pressure resulting from the fast pace of economic development. It is also a good instrument to disseminate information since women are generally known to experience a lot of discrimination in economic, social and cultural levels. The following aspects of educational awareness will help women break free from this discrimination and achieve a more comfortable standard of living, hold a powerful position in society and make more choices concerning their health and morality:

  2. Reducing child and infant mortality. This happens because women with more educational awareness are more likely to ask for medical assistance when the need arises, arrange for immunization for their children are better able to provide food that meet the nutritional requirements of their children, and practice personal hygiene as well as sanitation in their respective homes. Doing this means that her children have more chance of surviving and being healthy throughout progressing years.
  3. Reducing maternal mortality rate. Women with better educational awareness are also more likely to understand the practice of health care and safe sex better. Hence, they also reduce their likelihood of getting pregnant at an earlier and more risky, age. They are also less likely to have unplanned pregnancies and also consult more often with a trained obstetrician and gynaecologist during and after their pregnancy.

The Importance of Educational Awareness for Women in Third World Countries

Educational awareness in first world countries has allowed people to deal with pressures resulting from the fast pace of change as a result of economic development. Educational awareness is also a significant factor for a more efficient means of disseminating information. Developed countries has managed to achieve this level of educational awareness in their people through education programs that are more accessible to the public and continuous training in the field of adult education. However, this is not the case for third world or developing countries.

It is the general perception that in terms of education, women experience more discrimination mainly due to economic, social and cultural factors. However, achieving women's educational awareness is important for the following reasons:

Women with formal education are also more likely to seek medical assistance whenever necessary, secure immunization for their children, are better able to fill their children's nutritional requirements, and practice personal hygiene and sanitation for their dwelling. This results to their children having higher chances of survival.

    4. Protection against sexually transmitted diseases. Education is one of the most powerful safeguards against women engaging in unprotected sexual encounters. Educational awareness becomes a factor in this by contributing to a woman's economic independence, influencing women to marry at an appropriate age and adopting family planning.
